It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a major film company and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
